Santa Teresa [Cloud Forest]
Overview
Santa Teresa sits in the cloud forest of La Convención, on the same road and rail corridor that takes you to Machu Picchu via Hidroeléctrica. This is the origin day that fits a trekking itinerary: leave Cusco (or stay in Santa Teresa), walk shade-grown plots, taste cherry at the tree, and watch washed parchment dry on raised beds. You meet the producers who pick and process the lot — not a show farm. Combine it with the walk or train into Aguas Calientes the same day or the next morning.
